The
Herkimer County Legislature has chosen Little Falls
Hospital to provide physician services for the county's
Public Health department, replacing Bassett Healthcare,
which has had the contract for a number of years.
Little
Falls Hospital physicians will regularly check in with
the department and approve programs, County Administrator
James W. Wallace Jr. said. The contract is for $83 an
hour for the "medical director" consulting.
Bassett
Healthcare earlier informed the county it would not
renew its contract that expires at the end of the month,
Wallace said.
Bassett
spokeswoman Leslie Raabe said the Bassett physician
who handled the job for the county got too busy as Bassett's
Herkimer branch grew.
"He
simply couldn't continue to give the position the time
that it requires so he withdrew himself from the position,"
she said.
In
other matters at last week's meeting, the legislature:
*
Reappointed Wallace as County Administrator for a three-year
term beginning Feb. 12. Wallace, 47, of Frankfort, was
first appointed in February 1991. His salary is $66,297.
*
Legislators appointed Judy L. Hummel of Herkimer to
the Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees.
Hummel fills the vacancy left by Robert Jones, who resigned
due to illness.
*
Legislators approved the architect and authorized bidding
for a new roof for Herkimer County Community College's
library. Architect William Taylor will design and oversee
the project at a fee of $10,450 plus additional compensation.
