ROME -- Mayor John Mazzaferro
announced Tuesday details of the community health festival
to take place Sept. 6 on the City Hall Green.
Although
still in the planning stages, the health festival will
include blood pressure, cholesterol and body fat screenings,
Mazzaferro said.
Nonprofit
health care organizations are invited to participate
in the health information expo during the festival,
and can sell items as long as they register and provide
a free service to festival attendees, he said.
For-profit
health care and fitness providers are also invited to
participate by providing free services or being sponsors.
Former
Mayor Joseph Griffo first proposed the community health
festival during his state-of-the-city address in February.
Mazzaferro
said he thought it was important to continue the festival
to showcase healthy lifestyles for the community.
