Choose
to Move: Journal #10
Oct. 1, 2002
The
end of the Choose to Move program is fast approaching
— there are only two meetings left.
That’s why I already am thinking about how to keep myself
motivated once the the meetings stop.
Saturday, I — along with two of my co-workers — joined
Weight Watchers ... again.
I’ve decided I need structure to lose weight successfully.
I lost 92 pounds on Weight Watchers before, but this
time I am focused on keeping the weight off.
I think the key to successful weight loss is finding
whatever works for you. I know this program works for
me.
Of course, there’s more to losing weight that just eating
right. A big part of it is exercise.
At Wednesday’s Choose to Move meeting, we learned about
nautilus equipment. Jennifer Almy, an occupational therapist,
and Jim Furmanski, a physical therapy assistant — who
both work at the Sitrin Family of Services — demonstrated
how to use the equipment.
They said it is important not to hold your breath when
you’re doing the moves — you should be sure to breathe
out on exertion. If you do hold your breath, you can
increase your blood pressure by 200 points, they said.
For those readers interested in more information regarding
diabetes, which we also learned about Wednesday, go

Sylvia Hough at the local chapter of the American Diabetes
Association at (315) 735-6434 Ext. 3693.
